Meet the 1st AAJ Graduate Scholarship Recipient!

Always A Judson was very pleased with the response to the inaugural AAJ Legacy Scholarship for Graduate Study. We are grateful to each applicant for her thoughtful materials, significant commitment to advanced education, and true promise in the spirit of Judson College.

Meet Makayla Marler!

AAJ is delighted to announce that Makayla is this year’s Graduate Scholarship recipient.

Active in both college life and community service as a Judson student, Makayla’s plans were unexpectedly upended by the College’s closing at the end of her sophomore year. Like many of her sisters, through resilience and determination, she regrouped and successfully completed a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Montevallo on schedule. Currently enrolled there in the master’s program in Marriage and Family Counseling, Makayla plans a career as a military or child psychologist. Congratulations, Makayla!

As a part of considering the ways to sustain and advance the legacy of the Judson College we all hold dear, Always A Judson sets aside 20% of undesignated alumnae gifts for one or more scholarships to support women pursuing graduate education. As a result of your generosity, AAJ has been able to award this first $1000 scholarship. We hope and trust that alumnae will continue to support and grow this initiative along with the preservation of the treasured artifacts in the Judson Legacy Project.
