Lux et Veritas: Judson College Special Exhibition at University of South Alabama - July & August 2025

AAJ will host a special exhibition of historical items from The Judson Legacy Project Collection in the Rodning Gallery of the Marx Library at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, July 1st through August 29th, 2025.

The exhibition, “Lux et Veritas: Judson College’s 183 Year History as ‘Light and Truth’ for Women’s Education in Alabama,” will depict women’s education chronologically. Each case will represent an era and include period dress/uniforms, books, lab equipment, sports items, photos, and Bibles.  Our unique narrative tells of 183 years of Christian education focused on academic excellence, leadership development, the fine arts, athletics, and inspiring women to succeed from the early 1800’s as they created a new tradition for the American woman.

“We are so excited for this opportunity to tell Judson’s story. As the only women’s college in Alabama at the time of its closing in 2021, Judson’s history is best suited to show the changes in women’s higher education throughout Alabama history,” stated AAJ Archivist Valerie Pope Burnes, Ph.D. “We are grateful to the University of South Alabama and Judson Alumna Paula Webb for making this exhibit possible. Judson’s legacy will live on through her alumnae and the transforming influence those women have had, and will continue to have, on the lives of other Alabamians.”

Alumnae are encouraged to bring family and friends to view the exhibit this summer and to make plans to attend a special Reception on Tuesday, July 22nd from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

The Marx Library is located at the University of South Alabama campus, 5901 USA Drive North, Mobile, AL 36688. The Rodning Gallery is located on the third floor of the building. AlwaysAJudson.org
