J. V. Newman – Award Presentation

AAJ President Dr. Cynthia Gore recently presented this year’s Judson Legacy Award to JanetVignes Hughey, in memory of her late sister Joan Vignes Newman ’73. Joan’s dedication to thelegacy of Judson College and to support women in higher education endeavors was unmatched.She was a loyal alumna and committed leader to foster a future for Judson’s legacy and thecontinued success of young women. After serving as the former Chairman of the JC Board ofTrustees and Foundation, she funneled her energy into furthering the legacy through AAJ’sdigitization efforts and scholarships for alumnae.“She worked behind the scenes for so long despite her own personal family tragedies and is atrue example of the character of a Judson woman,” said Gore. “Her passing is deeply felt by alland yet, her loyalty and love for Judson College will be a significant, impactful part of her legacy.”
