AAJ Legacy Tea Snapshots

The 4 th Annual Judson Legacy Tea was held on December 7 th at Mountain Brook Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL. The event welcomed over 60 Alumnae who enjoyed another historical exhibit, Step-Sing, and the presentation of two Legacy Awards to Tina Johnson Echler ’83 and Manda Spencer-Foster, EdD, ’02, as well as two scholarship awards to Ti-Ara Turner and Payton Luker. This event also premiered the NEW “Echoes of Judson College” book’s first release while Dr. Manda Spencer-Foster ’02, the main contributor to the project, was in attendance to personally sign each book. “The book project was quite an endeavor and involved participation from several of our AAJ Board members over a two year period to acquire and copy the material from the Judson Senior notebooks housed publicly in the Special Archives at Samford University to utilizing information from some of our earlier acquired items from the college; collaborating on the topics; editing; etc.,” said Laurie Gruenloh. “Manda committed countless hours to the project in addition to her full-time professorship and family commitments. Her love for our college was obvious through her pain-staking efforts for accuracy and understanding as many of the traditions modified slightly through the decades. We both breathed a sigh of relief when we moved forward to actually print the final book and give our alumnae a printed version of the many cherished traditions we each experienced with our own Judson Sisters during our time there.”

We would like to thank the many alumnae who served at the event in various ways to make the event a success!
